Alabama Cross Country Opens 2021 Season Saturday in Memphis

The Crimson Tide is sending 14 to the Memphis Twilight in Memphis, Tenn., to get the season rolling
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's cross country teams will toe the line for the first time this season Saturday at the Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tenn.
The meet will be held at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex and hosted by Christian Brothers University. The women are racing over a 5-kilometer course, starting at 9:20 p.m. CT, while the men will compete over four miles beginning at 10 p.m.
Alabama is sending a contingent of 14 men and women to the Twilight, which is the first of four regular-season contests on the Crimson Tide's schedule this season. Four rookies are set to make their crimson and white debut this weekend, including Brady Barton, Collin Jones, Keaton Morrison and Gavin Saacke.
The Alabama veterans lacing up their spikes this weekend are Rebecca Billman, Leahrose Mami, Alex Mielke, Savannah Noethlich, Megan Patton, Scott Platek, Rich Saenz, Riley Schelp, Lauren Turner and Kerri Walsh.
The women, who finished eighth at the NCAA Championships last year, come into this season ranked No. 7 nationally, No. 1 in the South Region and No. 2 in the Southeastern Conference in preseason polls. The men were voted No. 4 in the South Region and No. 3 in the SEC.
