Former Alabama players continue to produce in the week three of the 2021-22 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The third week of the 2021-22 National Football League season wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week three by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Derrick Henry continued his string of impressive performances. The Titans' running back carried the ball 23 times for 113 yards and hauled in three passes for 31 yards. His performance helped Tennessee secure a divisional win over the Indianapolis Colts. Also excelling out of the backfield was Steelers' tailback Najee Harris. The rookie came up huge in the Pittsburgh passing game, hauling in 14 receptions for 102 yards to go with 14 rushes and 40 yards.
Two former Tide wideouts also posted solid efforts for their respective offenses. Calvin Ridley contributed to the Atlanta Falcons' first victory of the season by tallying a team-high eight catches for 61 yards. Henry Ruggs III helped the Las Vegas Raiders remain undefeated, thanks in part to his four catches for 78 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Trevon Diggs continued to be a menace in the Dallas secondary. Diggs recorded two tackles and three pass breakups on Monday Night Football. The highlight of his performance was a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown that helped seal the Cowboys' 41-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The turnover marked Diggs' third interception on the year, putting him in a tie for the league lead through the early portion of the season.
The Jets saw two Crimson Tide defenders excel Sunday. Up front, Quinnen Williams tallied four tackles, including one for loss, to go with 1.5 sacks and two quarterback hurries. Stacked behind him, linebacker C.J. Mosley led New York in tackles with 10 total by day's end.
Rounding out the group of former UA standouts was defensive back Landon Collins. The veteran safety recorded eight tackles and one tackle for loss for the Washington Football Team.
