The Crimson Tide moves to 1-2-0 in SEC play

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama soccer team (6-6-0, 1-2-0 SEC) dropped a 3-0 decision to the Vanderbilt Commodores (4-5-2, 1-1-1 SEC) in a Sunday afternoon road match at the Vanderbilt Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.

Vanderbilt got on the board early with Peyton Cutshall taking advantage of a corner kick from Amber Nguyen in the opening 15 minutes. The Crimson Tide created multiple chances at goal during the half, doubling the number of shots from Vanderbilt (6-3), but was unable to find the back of the net.

Both teams came out strong in the second half, but it was Vanderbilt that capitalized on momentum as Madison Elwell crossed a ball into the box for Raegen Kelley to slide into goal. Two minutes later, Nguyen played a bouncing ball behind Alabama's defense for Kelley to run onto the end of, extending the goal margin to 3-0. The Crimson Tide continued to push, firing off four shots and earning four corners in the second half, but was unable to capitalize on opportunities.
