
Alabama Posts Lowest Score of the Second Round, Four Players Hover the Top 20

The Crimson Tide are in second place on a 13-under-par 563 after 36 holes at the Mason Rudolph Championship
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The entire University of Alabama women's golf lineup recorded a score under par Saturday, as the team concluded the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
The Crimson Tide put together a 10-under-par 278 in its second round to boast a 13-under-par 563 tournament total to earn second place ahead of the final 18 holes. It marked the best team total of the afternoon by at least three shots, while it is also the Crimson Tide's best team total since Oct. 27, 2019 when the Tide posted a 10-under-par 278 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
Alabama is just five shots behind Oregon, as the Ducks continue to pace the field on a 17-under-par 559 tournament total. Meanwhile, Florida is in third place on a 4-under-par 572 tournament total.
Polly Mack finished her round with seven birdies for a team-best, 4-under-par 68 this afternoon, bringing her scorecard to 3-under-par 141 to slide in the top 10. Mack is in the hunt for her second straight top-10 finish, after sharing a tie for eighth place at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in the season opener less than two weeks ago.
Also in the hunt for her second straight top-10 finish, Benedetta Moresco leads the Crimson Tide in the individual standings after carding a 2-under-par 70 this afternoon to go along with her 4-under-par 68 from the first round. The sophomore creeped one spot up the leaderboard, hovering fourth place.
Mack, Moresco and Emilie Øverås all capped their rounds with a back-to-back birdies on the par-4 No. 17 and the par-5 No. 18. Øverås, who was the only Alabama player to both begin and end her round with a mark below par, shot a 1-under-par 71 in the second round for a 1-under-par 143 tournament total.
Graduate student Angelica Moresco and newcomer Sarah Edwards each recorded 2-under-par 70 rounds this afternoon. Moresco is tied for 16th place on a 2-under-par 142 and Edwards is tied for 36th on a 2-over-par 146.
Alabama is one of 15 teams competing in the weekend outing, which includes five teams ranked in the Women's Golf Coaches Association Top 25. Those 15 teams are No. 14 Alabama, No. 17 Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, No. 10 Florida, Kentucky, No. 11 Georgia, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Northwestern, No. 22 Oregon, Ohio State, host Vanderbilt and Washington.
The Crimson Tide will tee off in the final round Sunday at 9:40 a.m. CT on No. 1, paired with Oregon and Florida.

"It's interesting to watch this team because nothing they do looks spectacular, yet they keep plotting along. What we preach is to take the opportunities when they occur and to save power for when you're out of position, which they did just that all day long. The girls putted well today, with perfect speed and very consistently. Their putts gave us a lot of chances. We just need to focus on what we need to do. Clearly, we can be very good if we stay in the moment and tend to each shot."
