Alabama Women’s Golf Continues Fall Season at Mason Rudolph Championship

The Crimson Tide will meet 14 teams at the Vanderbilt Legends Club - North Course in Franklin, Tenn.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Less than two weeks after finishing in fourth place at one the most stacked tournaments of the regular season, the No. 14 University of Alabama women's golf team is back on the road to face another touted field. The Crimson Tide is set to compete at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn., Sept. 24-26, for its second of four tournaments this fall.
Fifteen teams will compete at the Vanderbilt Legends Club - North Course (par 72, 6,475 yards), including five teams ranked in the Women's Golf Coaches Association Top 25. Those teams are No. 14 Alabama, No. 17 Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, No. 10 Florida, Kentucky, No. 11 Georgia, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Northwestern, No. 22 Oregon, Ohio State, hosts Vanderbilt and Washington.
The teams will participate in a five-count-four, stroke-play format, with Alabama teeing off alongside Vanderbilt and Mississippi State at 8:30 a.m. CT Friday, off hole No. 1.
THE LINEUP
- Alabama will sport the same lineup as its season opener at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate on Sept. 13-15, which includes Sarah Edwards, Polly Mack, Angelica Moresco, Benedetta Moresco and Emilie Øverås.
- Each player at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate had at least one round counted toward the team total, while Mack, A. Moresco and Øverås contributed all three rounds.
- The Crimson Tide finished in fourth place at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, a 12-team tournament field that featured seven teams that finished last season in the top 10, according to Golfstat.com.
- The lineup kept its tournament total under par for just the second time in the last 13 outings (1-under-par 863).
- The lineup recorded the lowest team total of the second round, posting a 4-under-par 284, to surge four spots up the leaderboard.
- Mack led the Tide at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, recording a three-under-par 213 over the three-day event and tying for eighth place.
- She charted her best score of the tournament in the second round when she fired off eight birdies en route to a 5-under-par 67. It tied her second-lowest, single-round score during her time at the Capstone.
- B. Moresco joined Mack in the top 15 at the season opener, shooting a 1-under-par 215 to finish tied for 13th.
- Both Mack and B. Moresco collected their fifth top-15 finish in their UA careers.
- Edwards made her Alabama debut at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, stringing together rounds of 79, 70 and 76.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
- The Mason Rudolph Championship is held annually at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
- Alabama's appearance at the Mason Rudolph Championship this weekend will mark its first since 2017, when it served as the Crimson Tide's season opener.
- UA finished the tournament runner-up that season, posting a 35-under-par 829.
- A. Moresco made her Alabama debut at the outing in 2017.
- Alabama has won the Mason Rudolph Championship twice since 2001, taking home first place in 2015 (16-under-par 848) and 2016 (39-under-par 825).
- Alabama's appearance at the Mason Rudolph Championship this weekend will mark its first since 2017, when it served as the Crimson Tide's season opener.
- The field consists of 15 teams, five of which are among the WGCA's Top 25.
- In addition to No. 14 Alabama, No. 17 Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, No. 10 Florida, Kentucky, No. 11 Georgia, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Northwestern, No. 22 Oregon, Ohio State, hosts Vanderbilt and Washington will compete this weekend.
