Alabama Rowing Announces 2021-22 Racing Schedule

The Crimson Tide will race three times at home on the Black Warrior River this season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing has announced its 2021-22 schedule, which features three home races on the Black Warrior River.
The schedule opens with two fall races, including the Head of the Black Warrior River on Oct. 30 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., against Clemson. The Tide kicks off the spring slate with a road exhibition at Clemson before returning home to face Eastern Michigan March 5. A scrimmage against the U.S. Naval Academy on March 15 marks the final home event of the season before Alabama treks twice to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational and a dual meet against Tennessee.
Following the Pac 12 Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., and the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, the Tide begins the postseason portion of the schedule with the Big 12 Championships on May 15, also in Austin, Texas, and the NCAA Championships May 27-29 in Sarasota, Fla.
Alabama rowing is coming off a historic 2020-21 season that saw the Crimson Tide qualify for its first-ever NCAA Tournament, finishing 13th in the country. The team ranked as high as No. 7 nationally during the spring and medaled in all four races at the Big 12 Championships en route to a second-place team finish. Head Coach Glenn Putyrae, who enters his fourth season at the helm, was named the CRCA Regional Coach of the Year while the staff was named the Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.
