Serepca’s brace led the Crimson Tide in its final non-conference game of the regular season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team (5-5-0) concluded its non-conference slate Sunday, rolling to a 3-0 victory against the Utah Valley Wolverines (5-4-0) at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.
Alabama came out firing in the first 45 minutes of the match. Forward Ashlynn Serepca got the Tide an early lead at the 18th minute, heading the ball into the back of the net after receiving a cross from midfielder Allie Berk. Less than 10 minutes later, forward Riley Tanner crossed the ball into the box for Serepca to tap into the back of the net and score her second goal of the day. Alabama held the advantage in shots with six, putting four on frame.
Alabama did not slow its moment going into the second half. In the 46th minute, Serepca launched a pass to Macy Clem, who fired off a shot at the top of the box and gave the Tide a three-goal lead. After Clem's goal, the Tide put up a defensive battle which included three crucial saves by McKinley Crone to preserve the shutout.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"Good win over a quality team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. They'll win a lot of games in their conference this season. Soccer is a bizarre sport. There's been other games this season where we've had more chances and better chances and walked away with nothing. Happy that our players were rewarded for their effort and quality tonight. We will enjoy the win and shift our focus to Mizzou."
