
Dru Kuck Named SEC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

The junior was named the Marshall Invitational MVP
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior libero Dru Kuck was named the Southeastern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday following the opening weekend of the 2021 season.
Kuck started at libero in all three matches for Alabama at the Marshall Invitational, finishing the weekend with 70 digs over 11 sets played for an average of 6.36 per set. She set a new career high in the season opener against Austin Peay with 28 digs and led the team in the remaining two matches against Marshall (24) and Miami of Ohio (18). For her efforts, she was named the Marshall Invitational MVP.
The weekly award is the 58th in program history and the first for Kuck, who transferred to Alabama this season after two years at Kansas State. She previously was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 21, 2019.
Kuck and her Crimson Tide teammates continue play this weekend at Foster Auditorium, hosting the Crimson Tide Invitational presented by the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Action opens Thursday, Sept. 2 against Troy at 7 p.m. CT.
