The Crimson Tide shutout the Volunteers in a preseason match on Wednesday afternoon
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama women's soccer team traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the Tennessee Volunteers for an exhibition match at the Regal Soccer Stadium, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
The first half was a defensive battle as both teams had opportunities at goal but could not capitalize. Tennessee led the board in shots, posting seven. Forward Ashlynn Serepca fired off one shot on goal for the Crimson Tide inside the penalty area, forcing UT's goalkeeper to come up with a save.
The remaining 45 minutes continued to be a defensive contest for both teams, but Tennessee held the advantage in shots, recording 11 on the half. Alabama's defense held the Vols at bay, keeping the match scoreless.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"Good result for us on the road against a quality opponent," head coach Wes Hart said. "If we can find ways to get points from these types of SEC road games in the fall, we'll take them. Tennessee was good today. They created more chances than us and had more territory, but we were able to grind out a result. Very proud of our defending in the box, particularly on set pieces. We got exactly what we wanted from this game."
