
Alabama Women’s Tennis Alum Erin Routliffe Wins 32 Palermo Ladies Open Doubles Tournament

The Crimson Tide’s first NCAA champion in woman’s tennis captured her first WTA title with the victory
PALERMO, Italy. –Alabama women's tennis alumna Erin Routliffe won her first WTA title at the 32 Palermo Ladies Open doubles tournament with partner Kimberley Zimmermann on Sunday. The pair bested Natela Dzalamidze and Kamilla Rakhimova 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-4 in the championship match to win the doubles tournament.
Routliffe and Zimmermann won three matches on their way to the championship. The duo went 6-4, 6-3 in the Round of 16 against Marina Bassols Ribera and Despina Papamichail before defeating Olga Danilovic and Elena-Gabriela Ruse 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 in the quarterfinals. Routliffe and Zimmermann recorded a decisive 6-2, 6-4 win over Alexandra Panova and Julia Wachaczyk to earn a spot in the finals.
A 2017 graduate, Routliffe was the NCAA doubles champion in 2014 and 2015 and the national runner-up in 2017. She also qualified for the NCAA Tournament in singles three times and was named a two-time ITA doubles All-American and a four-time All-SEC honoree.
