Alabama’s Kensey McMahon Races in USA Olympic Team Trials Final of the 1,500 Meters

The Crimson Tide distance ace turned in a 16:20.03 to take eighth in the longest race in the pool
OMAHA, Neb. – Alabama's Kensey McMahon finished eighth in the very first 1,500-meter freestyle final at a United States Swimming Olympic Team Trials, being held in Omaha, Neb., this week.
The women's 1,500-meter freestyle was added to the Olympic schedule for the first time heading into Tokyo, making the prelims and the finals of the race a first at the U.S. Olympic Trials this week. McMahon advanced to the final on Tuesday with a time of 16:16.09, before coming back a little more 24 hours later for the final, posting a 16:20.03.
Day Four Results for the Crimson Tide
- Women's 1,500-meter freestyle final – Kensey McMahon swam a 16:20.03 to finish eighth
- Men's 100-meter freestyle prelims – Matt King swam a 49.98 to finish 36th
- Men's 200-meter breaststroke prelims – Derek Maas stopped the clock at 2:16.74 to take 39th

- Preliminaries start at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday, with the evening session getting underway at 6:45 p.m. CT
- Women's 100-meter freestyle prelims – Cora Dupre, Morgan Scott
- Men's 200-meter backstroke prelims – Christopher O'Connor, Eric Stelmar
- Men's 200-meter individual medley prelims – Nicholas Perera
