Alabama Men’s Golf Concludes Opening 36 Holes of Play at NCAA Stillwater Regional

The Crimson Tide finished first two rounds with a total of 604
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Alabama men's golf team concluded the opening two rounds of play at the 2021 NCAA Men's Golf Stillwater Regional on Monday, ending the day with a team total of 28-over par 604 (310-294). The 54-hole NCAA Regional, which is typically played by 18-hole rounds across three days, was forced move to 36 holes Monday due to the threat of inclement weather in the extended forecast.
Alabama began on the 10th hole of the par 72, 7,502-yard Karsten Creek Golf Course and could never get its momentum turned around after a 4-over par combined total of the first hole of the day.
The Crimson Tide and the remainder of the 13-team field is scheduled to conclude play Tuesday, however, play will begin at 10 a.m. CT due to inclement weather in the morning.
The Lineup
- Freshman JP Cave was UA's top performer on the day, finishing the day in a tie for 44th with a 150 (77-73)
- Thomas Ponder (78-73), ranked No. 52 in the nation, and Davis Shore (80-71) tied for 50th with both carding a 151
- Canon Claycomb is one stroke back with a 152 (75-77), while Wilson Furr finished with a 36-hole total of 161 (84-77)
The Rest of the Field
- Tournament host and top seed Oklahoma State (559) holds a two-stroke lead over No. 2 seed Illinois (561)
- No. 21 SMU (570), No. 39 Baylor (576) and Northwestern (579)
- The top five teams will advance to NCAA Nationals
