
Alabama Holds Steady After 36 Holes of The Collegiate Invitational

The Crimson Tide remains in 12th place heading into Wednesday’s final round of play
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama men's golf team maintained its position after Tuesday's second round of play at The Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham. The Crimson Tide will enter the final round in 12th overall with a 36-hole total of 595 (296-299).
Fourth-ranked Clemson and No. 19 Tennessee are tied for the clubhouse lead after two rounds at three-over par 571 on the challenging par 71, 7,226-yard Country Club of Birmingham West Course. The Tigers and Volunteers own a five-stroke lead over No. 22 North Florida (576), while No. 21 Arkansas (577) and No. 48 Ole Miss (579) round out the top five, respectively.
Highlights
- After four UA golfers finished the first round with matching rounds of 3-over par 74, Canon Claycomb emerged as the team leader in round two with a team-best total of 1-over par 72
- Claycomb will enter the second round in a tie of 26th overall with a two-day total of 4-over par 146 (74-72)
- Thomas Ponder finished with a second consecutive round of 74 to total a 6-over 148 across his two rounds to place in a tie for 38th overall
- Wilson Furr is one stroke behind Ponder at 149 (74-75) and will enter the third and final round in a tie for 44th
Other Alabama Golfers
- JP Cave is in a tie for 61st with a 36-hole total of 152 (74-78)
- Jack Goldasich rounds out the starting lineup with a 166 (84-82) and is in a tie for 79th
- Tyler Lipscomb, who is competing as an individual, is in a tie for 44th overall with a 149 (73-76)

- Claycomb has collected 27 total pars which ranks in a tie for third-most among all individuals
Next Round
- The Tide will conclude tournament play Wednesday when it tees off the third round at 8:40 a.m. CT off Hole No. 10
