The Crimson Tide will honor its nine senior players prior to Friday’s 6 p.m. match
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 35-ranked Alabama men's tennis team closes its regular-season home slate this Friday at 6 p.m. against No. 15 Mississippi State at the Alabama Tennis Facility. Friday will also serve as Senior Day for the Crimson Tide, with its super-sized senior class being honored prior to the match.
Alabama will recognize its nine seniors – Gabriel Diaz Freire, Sam Fischer, Jeremy Gschwendtner, Alexey Nesterov, Edson Ortiz, Vincent Rettke, Riccardo Roberto, Grant Stuckey and Zhe Zhou – as well as senior manager Abi Gossett.
Head Coach George Husack Said
"This group of seniors has made an indelible impact to Alabama tennis. They arrived in Tuscaloosa determined to push our program to new heights on court, in the gym, at practice, in the classroom and the community. They've pushed each other to be better competitors as well as made the staff better coaches. We've been fortunate to have the same team for the better part of the last four years, and as a result, strong relationships have been forged that will last forever among a group of guys from so many different places in the world. While there is still plenty of season remaining this spring to add to their legacy, this class has set the stage for the next group of Alabama tennis players to carry the torch even higher. I'm proud of what they've accomplished as student-athletes and for the impact they've had in my life."
