
Alabama’s Hunter Jaynes Reaches Platform Final on NCAA Zone B Diving Championships Day Two

The Crimson Tide junior finished 13th after totaling 682.40 points between prelims and finals
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Alabama's Hunter Jaynes finished 13th off the platform on day two of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. this week. Jaynes is one four Crimson Tide divers competing at the Zone B meet for a chance to advance to the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Day Two Results
- Hunter Jaynes advanced to the finals of the platform event, taking 13th with 580.70 points over 12 dives
- Jaynes tallied 269.00 points in prelims, taking 14th place, before totaling 311.70 points in finals to move up a spot
- Halia Bower took 21st place off the women's 3-meter with a score of 258.40 points in prelims
The 2021 Zone B Championships
- While swimmers qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships by virtue of times posted during the season, divers qualify exclusively through the five Zone meets
- Each Zone has a set number of slots per event
- Zone B has seven spots off both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events and eight off the platform for women
- For the men, Zone B has 10 slots off the 1-meter and eight each off the 3-meter board and platform
- There are 66 divers from 15 different schools at the Zone B Championships, including SEC rivals Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee
- In addition to hosting both the Zone B and Zone A meets, Greensboro is also the site of the men's and women's 2021 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships
- The men close the meet with the 1-meter springboard, while the women finish out the meet with the platform event on Wednesday
- Hunter Jaynes and Kevin Li are slated to compete off the 1-meter springboard, while Tanesha Lucoe is set for the platform on the competition's final day
