
Alabama Track and Field Wins Seven Events at Jaguar Opener

The Crimson Tide won seven of the eight races it entered in its first outdoor meet of the season
MOBILE, Ala. – Alabama track and field won seven of the eight events it ran at the Jaguar Opener in Mobile, Ala., Friday night. The Crimson Tide took second in the only event it didn't win and took first and second in three events.
The Jaguar Opener marked the Crimson Tide's first meet of the outdoor season and featured a limited roster of competitors.

"We had a solid night in Mobile. We came into the meet looking to knock some rust off and get geared up for the outdoor season and that's what we did. Now that we have our starting point, we just need to get pushing forward."
Crimson Tide Wins and Sweeps
- Robert Dunning won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.68
- Dunning and Matthew Weaver went 1-2 in the 400-meter hurdles, with Dunning winning with a 51.73
- Jonathan Martin took top honors in the 100-meters (10.73) and 200-meters (21.821)
- Natassha McDonald, Katie Funcheon and D'Jai Baker went 1-2-3 in the women's 200-meters with McDonald posting a 23.69 for top honors
- Esther Gitahi and Leah Hanle swept the top-two spots in the women's 5,000-meters with Gitahi running a 15:54.09 for the win
- The Tide also got the win in the men's 5,000-meters with Vincent Kiprop running away from the field with a 14:02.94
