The Crimson Tide finished the three-day, 54-hole event with a team total of 8-over par 872
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The No. 24 Alabama men's golf team finished play at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship, closing the three-day tournament in 11th overall with a 54-hole team total of 8-over par 872 (297-280-295).
Georgia, ranked No. 13 in the nation, won the event after shooting a team total of 20-under par 844. Ninth-ranked Texas A&M and Mississippi State tied for second after both teams carded matching scores of 10-under par 854, while No. 10 Vanderbilt (861) and No. 21 Tennessee (861) tied for fourth overall.
Alabama Highlights
- Thomas Ponder led the team after tying for 16th overall with a tournament total of 1-under par 215 (72-70-73) to mark the fifth top-20 finish this season and seventh of his two-year career
- Canon Claycomb, who carded the lowest round by any Crimson Tide player over the weekend, closed play with a 2-over par 218 (76-68-74) to finish tied for 33rd overall
- Wilson Furr (76-73-71), who carded the Tide's lowest round over the final 18 holes with a 1-under 71 on Sunday, and JP Cave (73-69-78) tied for 45th overall with a 220
The Rest Of The Lineup
- Jack Goldasich ended tournament play in 78th with a 229 (79-73-77) on the par 72, 7,088-yard Old Waverly Golf Course
- Simms Abney competed as an individual and finished with a score of 239 (77-81-80)
