Alabama Rowing Posts Strong Showing on Day One in Oak Ridge

The Crimson Tide concludes racing at the Cardinal Invitational Sunday
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – Alabama rowing opened its weekend at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational winning seven of its nine races, including a sweep of the morning session.
In the morning session, the Crimson Tide swept its four races against Minnesota and Tulsa. The 1V8+ started the day with a 6:17.224 time before the 1V4+ was over 15 seconds ahead of the field in its race, coming in at 7:06.891. The 2V8+ won a tight race with a 6:28.553 to edge out Tulsa by a little over two seconds and the 2V4+ capped the morning sweep with a winning time of 7:01.642.
Alabama returned to the water later in the afternoon for another set of races, this time against Wisconsin and SMU. The Tide posted winning times with its First Varsity 8+ and 4+ boats, crossing the line at 6:14.693 and 7:06.405, respectively. In a head-to-head race in the 3V8+, Wisconsin edged out Alabama by less than two seconds, with the Tide finishing in 6:42.876. Following a third-place finish in the 2V8+ (6:36.785), Alabama capped off the day with a win in the 2V4+, finishing over 13 seconds ahead of the field in 7:09.343.
