Black History Month
In the midst of Black History Month, please join us as we celebrate the amazing contributions our African American student-athletes, coaches and staff have made in helping to create our championship legacy with daily recognition posts via Alabama Athletics social media platforms. UA's Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, headed up by Dr. Christine Taylor, also has several events planned throughout February to celebrate the 95th annual Black History Month from movies, to trivia nights, exhibits, speakers and more.
Be the Change T-Shirts on Sale Now
Many of you have asked about purchasing the Be the Change T-shirts seen on our teams during warmups this season, and they are now available for sale through the Alabama Crimson Tide Official Online Store. A portion of the proceeds will support Alabama Athletics through the Crimson Tide Foundation's Crimson Core Fund. The Fund is designed to assist with the costs associated with scholarship benefits, academic support, nutrition and dining, sports medicine, strength and conditioning and leadership development.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day
While it is called National Girls and Women in Sports Day, our student-athletes stretched the celebration throughout last week, including a series of social media posts from each of our women's teams. With eight NCAA team titles and countless individual titles and honors, the Crimson Tide has a strong, vibrant and proud tradition when it comes to women's athletics. We'd like to thank those of you who celebrated by making a contribution to the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund. If you'd still like to donate, perhaps in honor of the female athlete in your life, visit uactf.org/ngwsd.
Women's Cross Country Earns No. 1 Ranking in South Region
Congratulations to our women's cross country team for earning its first No. 1 ranking in the South! In addition to being recognized as the top team in its region, our women stand at No. 13 nationally after a second-place finish at the 2020 Southeastern Conference Championships.
Volleyball Sweeps Ole Miss
Our volleyball team had a successful trip to Oxford over the weekend, winning a pair of five-setters against the Rebels. The victory on Friday was the Tide's first at Ole Miss since 2008. Great job rallying by our student-athletes and coaches for the road wins!
Several Spring Sport Seasons set to Begin
We will have five more of our teams in action over the next two weeks as seasons are set to begin for softball, men's golf, women's golf, baseball and soccer. Softball heads to Austin, Texas this weekend to face Colorado State, Arizona and the host Longhorns in the Texas Classic, while men's golf gets its spring slate started at The Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday. Women's golf heads to Viera, Fla. for the Moon Golf Invitational, which begins Sunday and runs through Tuesday. On Feb. 19, baseball opens with a weekend series against McNeese State, and soccer returns to the pitch to take on Columbus State.
Baseball and Softball Capacity and Ticket Information Announced
Speaking of baseball and softball, we recently distributed information on capacity and ticket plans for the 2021 season. Seating, as is the case in all of our venues, will continue to be socially distanced and spectators must wear facial coverings at all times, unless eating or drinking. We encourage you to visit our respective baseball and softball pages on our website for additional information.
