
Benedetta Moresco Shines in Crimson Tide Debut at Moon Golf Invitational

The rookie fired a 2-under par 70 to lead No. 16 Alabama on the opening day
MELBOURNE, Fla. – In her Crimson Tide women's golf debut, Benedetta Moresco fired a 2-under par 70 on Sunday to lead No. 16 Alabama on the opening day of the Moon Golf Invitational at the Duran Golf Club.
Alabama is currently tied for 10th on the team leaderboard through the first 18 holes, with a 4-over par 292. South Carolina is atop the team leaderboard after shooting 8-under par 280 and holds a two-stroke lead over UCF (282). Moresco is seven-strokes off the individual leader Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of South Carolina, who notched a 9-under par 63 in the opening round.
A Look at the Alabama Lineup
- Moresco carded a birdie on her first hole (No. 6) and finished the day with a team-leading five birdies
- The rookie also went bogey-free on the back nine
- Mack was steady in round one and scored even-par 72 and sits tied for 19th
- Kenzie Wright is tied for 40th and shot a 2-over par 74 in her first trip around the course
- Emilie Øverås and Caroline Curtis are tied for 57th at 4-over par 76

The tournament will continue through Tuesday. Play is set to continue with a 7 a.m. CT start. On Monday, Alabama will be paired with Miami and Arkansas, teeing off on hole No. 10.
