Productive Day One at Tyson Invitational for Alabama Track and Field

The Crimson Tide captured three induvial victories at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday night
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alabama men's and women's track & field put together a strong first day of action at the Tyson Invitational, led by three individual victories and a handful of season bests performances at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday night.
Taylor Gorum captured Alabama's first victory of the meet with a winning toss of 64-1 (19.53m) in women's weight throw. The second victory came from Eliud Kipsang in the men's 3000m, where he crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 7:58.89. Then to cap off day one, Bobby Colantonio Jr. threw a season best launch and NCAA No. 3 toss of 73-11½ (22.54m) in the men's weight throw.
Field Events
- Jacob Spotswood used a leap of 16-10¾ (5.15m) to place fourth in the men's pole vault
- For women's long jump, Aysia Ward (18-10/5.74m) placed 12th
- Also in women's weight, fellow teammate Samantha Kunza (17.95m/58-10¾) finished runner-up while Karmen Williams (16.22m/53-2¾) closed out the throwing trio in fifth
- On the men's side, Kieran McKeag (69-0/21.03m) placed fourth in weight throw
Track Events
- Champion Allison (45.99) and Leander Forbes (46.31) went 2-3 in the men's 400m, posting personal bests and NCAA top-15 times of the season
- Tamara Clark used a season best time of 7.26 to propel her into first and qualify for the finals
- In the 60m finals, Clark clocked a 7.28 to secure runner-up accolades
- Jami Reed lapped the course with a personal best time of 9:21.29 to finish sixth
