TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama battled back from a 14-point, second-quarter deficit to lead at the end of the third, however Ole Miss outscored the Crimson Tide down the stretch for the 67-62 edge in women's basketball action on Thursday. With the loss, Alabama moves to 12-6 on the season and 5-6 in Southeastern Conference play, while the win lifts the Rebels to 9-7 overall and 3-7 against league opponents.
Jordan Lewis recorded her first career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Jasmine Walker added 14 points and eight boards. Megan Abrams also recorded double-digits with 12 points as did Ariyah Copeland, who finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Tide scored nearly one-third of its points from the free throw line with 20 of the 62 coming from the stripe.
Head Coach Kristy Curry Said
"I really liked the fight we came out with after the half. I thought when we went up there, we missed some wide-open looks and you have to make shots. They made shots, and we missed shots. We had some great looks. To only have seven assists on the night and to miss seven free throws, you're going to have a hard time in this league when you give up 67 winning. Our big three have to show up. I thought their big ones showed up and showed out, and we did not. At the end of the day, we just have to regroup. I told our team that we've been here before. We have to fight and claw and scrape. I thought that locker room, right there, has to get some things situated as far as approach. I'm disappointed in tonight."
