Alabama Football’s Bryce Young Named Finalist for Manning Award

The sophomore is joined by nine other finalists
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has been named a Manning Award finalist, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced on Friday.
The sophomore is joined by Brennan Armstrong (Virginia), Matt Corral (Ole Miss), Sam Hartman (Wake Forest), Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh), Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati), Will Rogers (Mississippi State), Carson Strong (Nevada), C.J. Stroud (Ohio State) and Bailey Zappe (Western Kentucky) to make up the 10-man finalist list.
Last season, Mac Jones was the recipient of the Crimson Tide's lone Manning Award.
Bryce Young
Quarterback, Sophomore
- Completing 68.9 percent of his passes (288-418) for 3,901 yards with 40 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions
- Tied for second nationally and first in the Southeastern Conference in passing touchdowns
- Fourth nationally in points responsible for (260) while ranking fifth in the country in passing efficiency (177.0)
- Guided the Alabama offense to the No. 2 third-down conversion percentage in the nation (53.9 percent), completing 73.5 percent of his third-down pass attempts (75-102) for 1,186 yards and 13 touchdowns
The winner will be announced after the bowls in January. The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.
