
Alabama Football’s Phidarian Mathis Named to SEC Football Community Service Team

The redshirt senior is among 14 student-athletes honored by the league for superior service efforts
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Alabama football defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis has been named to the 2021 Southeastern Conference Football Community Service team, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Mathis participated in the 2021 Nick's Kids Habitat for Humanity home build and has been a regular speaker at the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center. He also distributed school supplies to his hometown school district in Franklin Parrish (Louisiana) and hosted youth flag football game in his hometown of Wisner, La. Mathis also participates in Alabama's youth reading program, traveling to elementary classrooms around the community to read to students.
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21-league sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
