Former Alabama players continue to shine in week 11 of the 2021 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 11th week of the National Football League season wrapped up Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Jalen Hurts and Mark Ingram highlighted the week with their matchup on Sunday. Hurts finished 13-of-24 passing for 147 yards and carried 18 times for 69 yards and three touchdowns for Philadelphia. Hurts' performance helped lead the Eagles to a win over New Orleans. In that same game, Ingram totaled 88 yards on six carries while adding six receptions for 25 yards for the Saints.
The duo of Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle had an impressive showing in Miami's win over the New York Jets. Tagovailoa completed 27-of-33 passes for 273 yards and one touchdown. On the receiving end of eight of those passes was Waddle, with the rookie racking up 65 receiving yards and adding one rush for a touchdown in the Dolphins' victory.
The defensive side of the ball was highlighted by Da'Ron Payne. Payne collected four tackles, half a sack and two quarterback hurries for the Washington Football Team. His day was capped off by sacking Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton on fourth down to halt a game-winning drive by the Panthers. Also performing up front was Chiefs' tackle Jarran Reed. Kansas City came away with a 19-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys thanks in part to Reed's four tackles, including half a sack, to go with a quarterback hurry.
Dont'a Hightower helped the Patriots continue their impressive run on defense as of late. The veteran linebacker collected seven tackles on the day in a shutout effort over the Atlanta Falcons, 25-0. Rounding out the defensive group was Ronnie Harrison. Cleveland's starting safety helped the Browns get a win over the Lions on Sunday with six total tackles, including one for loss.
