
Alabama Hosts Tulane, Honors Military Men, Women in Bama Salute Game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama women's basketball team will host Tulane inside Coleman Coliseum for its Bama Salute game Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus, with Richard Hendrix and Roger Hoover on the call.
Tickets to the nonconference contest start at five dollars. Both single game tickets and season tickets are on sale now, or fans can call the TIDE PRIDE/Athletic Ticket office at 205-348-BAMA.
Free parking is available to fans in the large parking lot adjacent to Coleman Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide is in the midst of a three-game homestand, hosting Charleston Southern (Nov. 9), Tulane (Nov. 14) and Southern Miss (Nov. 17) before hitting the road for the first time this season to square off against Duke in the Maggie Dixon Classic in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Alabama defeated Charleston Southern in the season opener last Tuesday, 109-32, improving to 1-0 on the season. The Crimson Tide rank fourth in the nation and first in the Southeastern Conference in scoring margin after its 77-point win over the Buccaneers. The Tide also ranks 15th in the nation and first in the conference in rebounds, collecting 53 boards against the Bucs.
Opening Tip
- Alabama returns to Coleman Coliseum after putting together a dominating performance in the season opener on Nov. 9, defeating Charleston Southern, 109-32. It marked the Crimson Tide's first meeting with the Buccaneers, boasting a 1-0 record against the program, while it also marked the first time the Tide eclipsed the 100-point marker since scoring 111 points against Mercer on Nov. 17, 2019.
- Brittany Davis proved time off was no disadvantage in the season opener, as the senior recorded the first double-double in her career on 25 points and 12 rebounds, both of which are career highs. She shot 47 percent from the field on 9-of-19 shooting, including 50 percent from the arc on 5-of-10 from long range.
- Five players scored in double digits, including Khyla Wade-Warren (16), Jada Rice (14), Taylor Sutton (13) and JaMya Mingo-Young (12).
- The Crimson Tide shot 49.4 percent from the field on 39-of-79 shooting, while the group shot 32 percent from long range on 8-of-25 from the arc.
- The Crimson Tide is eager to return to a traditional schedule for the 2021-22 season, boasting a competitive 13-game, regular-season schedule, paired with a rigorous 16-game conference schedule. Alabama's nonconference schedule features 10 home games, two road games and a neutral-site matchup against Duke at the Maggie Dixon Classic in Fort Worth, Texas, Nov. 21. Its SEC schedule includes eight home games and eight road games.
- The ESPN family of networks assigned Alabama to nine national slots for the upcoming season.
- Alabama is playing inside historic Coleman Coliseum for the sixth straight season.
- Head coach Kristy Curry is a former assistant coach at Tulane from 1991-93. It marked her first assistant coaching job in college athletics, previously leading Weston (1988-90) and Mansfield (1990-91) high schools.
Scouting Tulane
- Tulane is 1-0 this season, after battling Southeastern Louisiana to a 66-58 triumph on Nov. 9. The contest had four lead changes, while the two teams forced a tie on eight occasions in the season opener.
- Four players scored in double figures for the Green Wave, including Dynah Jones (16), Moon Ursin (15), Arsula Clark (13) and Krystal Freeman (12). Ursin and Freeman also led the team in rebounds, with eight boards a piece.
- The Green Wave shot 40 percent from the field on 24-of-60 shooting, while it shot 26.3 from long range on 5-of-19 from the arc.
- Tulane returned four starters in Arsula Clark, Dynah Jones, Krystal Freeman and Mia Heide. Both Clark and Freeman averaged 12.3 points per game a piece just a season ago, while Freeman tacked on 7.8 rebounds per game.
- Overall, the program returned 10 players, while it added four newcomers in one freshman and three transfers.
- One of those transfers is Moon Ursin, a former Baylor guard. Moon played and started in 18 games for the Bears last season, ranking third on the team with 12.8 points per game, shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from long range. She also ranked third on the team with 7.2 rebounds per game.
- After its game at Alabama, Tulane will return to its stomping grounds to host TCU on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
