
Alabama Football’s Will Anderson Jr., Bryce Young Named Semifinalists for Walter Camp Player of the Year

The sophomores are part of a 15-player list up for the honor
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Will Anderson Jr. and Bryce Young were each named semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Thursday afternoon.
Anderson Jr. and Young are two of 15 players from around the country named to this year's semifinalist list. Alabama has had three winners of the Walter Camp Player of the Year, including DeVonta Smith (2020), Tua Tagovailoa (2018) and Derrick Henry (2015).
Will Anderson Jr.
Linebacker, Sophomore
- The nation's leader in tackles for loss with 21 (-88 yards)
- Ranks second in Division I and leads the SEC in sacks with 10.5 (-66 yards)
- Accumulated 65 total tackles, good for second on UA, while adding a team-high six quarterback hurries and two pass breakups
Bryce Young
Quarterback, Sophomore
- Enters the final stretch of the season 211-of-304 passing with 28 touchdowns compared to three interceptions
- Leads the SEC and ranks fourth in the country for passing touchdowns
- Second in the conference in passing yards at 2,755, a total that is 10th nationally
- Also ranks second in the SEC and 15th in Division I for completion percentage at 69.4
The Walter Camp Player of the Year award is presented annually to the top player in college football. The award is voted on by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 2, with the winner announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show in Atlanta, Ga., on Thursday, Dec. 9.
