
Alabama Soccer Inks Four to NLIs

The Crimson Tide welcomes Sydney Japic, Gianna Paul, Kaydence Ramirez and Maria Vanore to the team
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team signed four student-athletes to NLIs, head coach Wes Hart announced on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide welcomes Sydney Japic, Gianna Paul, Kaydence Ramirez and Maria Vanore to the 2022 squad.
“We are thrilled with our 2022 signees,” said head coach Wes Hart. “Since our entire team is set to return next year, we didn’t have too many holes to fill. We were looking to add pace in our attack, strength in the air and depth on the left side, and we feel we checked those boxes with these four talented players. I can’t wait to get them here and integrate them into the team. I have no doubt that they will elevate our program.”
Sydney Japic
Frisco, Texas | Hebron High School | FC Dallas | Defender
From Hart: “Physical, hard-nosed, versatile midfielder that can also play anywhere on the backline.”
- A 5-9 defender out of Frisco, Texas
- Member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team and competed with the team as it looked to qualify for the U17 and U19 UEFA Euro
- Named Hebron High School’s Midfielder of the Year and earned 6A District First Team honors
- Area and Bi-District champion with Hebron High School

Kaydence Ramirez
Waxahachie, Texas | Waxahachie High School | FC Dallas | Midfielder/Forward
From Hart: “Attacking midfielder with a nose for the goal and incredible presence in the air.”
- A 5-8 midfielder out of Waxahachie, Texas
- Named the District 11-6A Midfielder of the Year and a First Team All-District selection
- Earned ECNL All-Conference First Team honors for her performance with FC Dallas
- Recorded the game-winning goal to advance FC Dallas to the quarterfinals

Gianna Paul
Huntington Station, N.Y. | Walt Whitman High School | SUSA Academy | Forward
From Hart: “A fast, dynamic forward that will be able to stress SEC defenses with her incredible pace and ability to score goals.”
- A 5-10 forward out of Huntington Station, N.Y.
- Named the Big School Offensive Player of the Year as well as a two-time All-Country honoree and an All-Long Island
- Won the 2021 New England Conference Championships with SUSA Academy in addition to being named to the New England U17 First Team All-Conference team
- All-American track athlete and was invited to the Reykjavik International Games in Reykjavik, Iceland, where she finished as the runner-up as part of the 4x200m relay

Greensboro, N.C. | Walter Hines Page High School | NC Fusion ECNL | Defender
From Hart: “An attack-minded left back with tremendous ability to get up and down the flank.”
- A 5-5 defender out of Greensboro, N.C.
- Selected for the ECNL National selection game
- A U23 WPSL Defensive-Carolinas All-Conference honoree
- Named the 2021 Offensive MVP as well as earning All-Conference and All-Region honors for the 2021 high school season
