The Crimson Tide and Tigers competed in the Head of the Black Warrior River
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing concluded its fall racing schedule Saturday against Clemson in the Head of the Black Warrior River.
"It was a great morning of racing on the Black Warrior River," UA head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "It was awesome seeing our novices race for the first time having just learned to row within the last two months. All the crews handled the challenging headwind for the 5k and gained some valuable experience racing in the 1,500s.
"We are grateful to Clemson for making the trip."
With a staggered start in the 5000-meter pieces, Alabama's A crew earned the win in the Pairs while the B crew edged out the A squad in an intrasquad Fours. In the Freshman/Novice Eights, Clemson's A crew took home the win with Alabama's A close behind in second.
Alabama resumes competition this spring with a rematch against Clemson, hitting the road to take on the Tigers on Feb. 26.
