Former Alabama players continue to shine in week seven of the 2021 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The seventh week of the National Football League season wrapped up Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week seven by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Current and former teammates Damien Harris and Mac Jones helped the New England Patriots to a dominant 54-13 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. Harris reached the 100-yard marker for a third time this season and the second time in as many games with 106 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Jones went over 300 yards passing for the first time during his rookie season, finishing 24-of-36 for 307 yards and two touchdowns. The strong showing added to Jones' impressive start to the year as he now leads all rookies in passing yards (1,779), completion percentage (70.4) and passing touchdowns (9).
Fellow quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also had a big day this past weekend. The Dolphins' quarterback completed 32-of-40 passes for 291 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 29 yards on the ground. Despite his efforts, Miami came up short against the Atlanta Falcons.
Rounding out the offensive group was running back Kenyan Drake. Drake rushed 14 times for 69 yards and one score while adding three catches for 10 yards. His performance propelled the Las Vegas Raiders to a win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
On the defensive side of the ball, Marlon Humphrey put together another solid performance in the Baltimore secondary. Humphrey collected seven tackles and one pass breakup while being a part of two turnovers including picking off one pass and forcing a fumble for the Ravens.
Two former Crimson Tide defenders contributed in a big way for the Washington Football Team. Jonathan Allen had a busy day chasing the quarterback, posting two tackles for loss and a pair of sacks, to go with three quarterback hurries. Landon Collins added seven tackles, including one for loss, to go with a fumble recovery.
Adding to the Tide's impressive list of defenders in the league was Rashaan Evans. The linebacker helped Tennessee to a win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Evans recorded an interception and broke up another pass to go with his four tackles and a fumble recovery. His contributions helped the Titans defense limit the high-powered Kansas City offense to just three points in a 27-3 win.
