Former Alabama players continue to shine in week six of the 2021 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The sixth week of the National Football League season wrapped up Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week six by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Derrick Henry highlighted the week once again, running wild against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. The NFL's current rushing yards (783) and touchdowns (10) leader racked up 143 yards and tallied three touchdowns on 20 carries for the Titans. Henry played a big role in Tennessee's come-from-behind win in primetime.
Two more former Crimson Tide running backs provided big performances for their respective squads. Najee Harris was able to help Pittsburgh to an overtime win against the Seattle Seahawks. The Steelers' tailback carried 24 times for 81 yards and added six receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Damien Harris provided a spark for the Patriots' offense in New England's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. Harris rushed 18 times for 101 yards and one touchdown.
In that same game, Trevon Diggs had yet another stellar performance in the secondary for the Cowboys. His stat line consisted of five tackles, one pass breakup and an interception. Diggs was able to return the interception 42 yards for a touchdown, marking his second pick-six of the season. The second-year corner continues to add on to his impressive season numbers, recording an interception in six consecutive games and leading the NFL with seven picks for the year.
Xavier McKinney had a busy day in the New York secondar. The Giants' safety tallied three tackles, two pass breakups and added two interceptions to his final line. In that same game, Los Angeles Rams linebacker Terrell Lewis recorded two tackles, including one tackle for loss and a sack. Rounding out the defensive group was veteran Kareem Jackson. The Broncos' defensive back collected six tackles and one sack in Denver's loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
