
Bencheikh, Hiser To Compete in Doubles Finals At ITA Southern Regionals

Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser face Kelsey Mize and Ludmila Kareisova from Ole Miss at 10 a.m. CT Tuesday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser will represent the Alabama women's tennis team in the doubles finals at the ITA Southern Regionals at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The UA duo posted a three-set win in the semifinals to earn a spot in the final match set for 10 a.m. CT Tuesday.
Bencheikh and Hiser faced second-seeded Emmanouela Antonaki and Tamara Racine from Mississippi State in the semifinals. The Bulldogs came out hot, taking the first set 6-3, but the Tide rallied to find a 7-5 second-set win and force a third-game tiebreak. The two UA players battled through the 10-point game to edge the Bulldogs and take the win at 10-8.
The winner of the regional championship qualifies for the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
In singles, Petra Sedlackova concluded her tournament run in the semifinals against fifth-seeded Safiya Carrington from LSU. Sedlackova took a 6-4 win in the first set but fell 6-3, 6-3 in the final two sets.
Bencheikh and Hiser will go head-to-head against Kelsey Mize and Ludmila Kareisova for the regional title. The match is set for Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT. Fans can watch the match through a link available at RollTide.com.
