Alabama Women’s Tennis Captures Eight Wins On Second Day Of ITA Southern Regionals

The Crimson Tide recorded wins in all three doubles matches in addition to winning five singles matchups
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis concluded the second day of the ITA Southern Regionals Friday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium, winning three doubles and five singles matches.
All three of UA's doubles pairings advanced to the Round of 32. Anna Parkhomenko and Petra Sedlackova put together a dominate performance in their first match of the tournament, going 8-1 against McNeese State's Aina Domingo-Bernabeu and Ariane Monlleo Sanchis. Anne Marie Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh dropped just three games to Otoha Aoki and Lara van der Merwe to take the match 8-3, while Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak battled through a tiebreak for an 8-7 (2) win in their first match as a UA duo.
Ola Pitak also earned her first singles win during the day's performance, topping South Alabama's Delien Klinhans 6-1, 6-1. Bencheik went 6-3, 6-1 against Sarah Medik from Southern Miss, while Parkhomenko went 6-0, 6-2 against Jana Hecking from UAB. Sedlackova earned a spot in the Round of 32 after downing Brianna Gomez from Louisiana Monroe 6-1, 6-2. Hiser rounded out the singles, fighting her way through two long sets to win 7-5, 7-6 (3).
Ansley Cheshire recorded her second win of the tournament, topping a consolation match against McNeese State's Matilde Mulatero 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.
Doubles and singles play continues Saturday as the Tide will play in the Round of 32 and Round of 16 for doubles and the Round of 32 singles. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. CT.
