
Christiansen and Martin Lead Alabama Men’s Tennis On Opening Day of MSU Bulldog Invitational

The Crimson Tide recorded four wins in singles play in addition to a doubles victory from Rudi Christiansen and Juan Martin
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Alabama men's tennis picked up four singles and one doubles win Friday on the opening day of the MSU Bulldog Invitational at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre in Starkville, Miss.
Doubles partners Rudi Christiansen and Juan Martin dropped just two games on their way to 6-2 victory against Michigan's Ryan Fu and Patron Hanchaikul to open the tournament. The UA duo followed with dominant singles performances as Christiansen posted a 6-0, 6-2 decision against Jonny Yaffe and Martin posted a 6-1, 6-0 decision against Fu.
Filip Planinsek and Patrick Kaukovalta also picked up singles wins for the Crimson Tide. Planinsek and Kaukovalta recorded mirroring scores as both athletes opened their first set 6-4, before battling to a 7-5 second-set win. Planinsek defeated Michigan's Jacob Bickersteth, while Kaukovalta defeated the Wolverines' Nick Beaty.
The Tide returns to action on day two of the MSU Bulldog Invitational Saturday with competition starting at 10 a.m.
