
Crimson Tide Continues SEC Homestand with LSU on Thursday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball (8-1, 1-1 SEC) will play its second home game of the week when it hosts the LSU Lady Tigers (4-4, 2-0 SEC) on Thursday in Coleman Coliseum.

OPENING TIP
- After winning its first eight games of the season, Alabama collected its first loss of the season last time out against No. 5/4 South Carolina, 77-60.
- The Crimson Tide won its first eight games of the season for the first time since the 2000-01 season when it won nine consecutive contests.
- Alabama finished its non-conference schedule at 7-0. Albeit an abridged pre-SEC slate, this is the first season Alabama entered conference play undefeated.
- Alabama and LSU will be meeting for the 62nd time when the two teams face off on Thursday in Coleman Coliseum.
- The Lady Tigers lead the series that began in 1977, 42-19.

ABOUT LSU
- LSU enters Thursday's game at 4-4 overall and 2-0 in SEC play after wins against Auburn (56-43) and at Ole Miss (77-69 OT).
- The Lady Tigers are riding a three-game winning streak heading into the matchup with the Crimson Tide.
- LSU is led by seniors Khayla Pointer and Faustine Aifuwa, who combine for an average of 24.0 points, 13.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. Pointer was a member of the 2020 All-SEC Second Team, while Aifuwa earned All-Defensive Team honors.
- As a team, the Lady Tigers average 56.8 points per game and 32.6 boards per contest.
- LSU is under the direction of Nikki Fargas, who is in her 10th season in Baton Rouge. Fargas has produced five 20-win seasons and six NCAA Tournament appearances highlighted by back-to-back trips to the NCAA Sweet 16. She is the second-winningest women's basketball coach in program history, behind the legendary Sue Gunter.

- Jordan Lewis set a career high in points with 28 in the 77-60 loss to No. 5 South Carolina in Coleman Coliseum.
- The 28 points gives Lewis back-to-back games of 20-plus after she scored a then-career-high 27 at Missouri. She has three recorded three games of 20 points or more this season and 13 for her career.
- Lewis was joined in double figures by Jasmine Walker, who finished with 16. Walker was the team's leading rebounder with eight boards.
- South Carolina never trailed in the game, scoring the game's opening bucket. The lead stayed at single digits for most of the first half, however a late run in the second extended it out to 11 by quarter's end. The Gamecocks would continue to lead for the duration.
- Walker has scored in double figures in each of the Tide's nine games this season.
- Lewis had another productive evening from the line, scoring nine of her 28 points from the charity stripe. In the last three games, she's gone 24-26.
- South Carolina won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Alabama, 55-31, 26 of which were scooped up on the offensive glass.
