Vanderbilt Commodore Invitational Concludes with Seven More Victories Saturday

The Crimson Tide earned nine wins for the weekend in Nashville
NASHVILLE, TENN. – Alabama men's and women's track & field concluded the Vanderbilt Commodore Invitational Saturday with a dominant season-opening performance. Saturday was highlighted by seven first-place titles to make it nine victories over the weekend.
Field Events
- Cherisse Murray (52'10.75"/16.12m) and Nickolette Dunbar (52'4"/15.95m) went 2-3 in women's shot put
- With a leap of 49'3.50" (15.02m), Christian Edwards claimed first in the men's triple jump
- In women's pole vault, Taylor Pickett (12'3.50"/3.75m) and Riley White (11'11.75"/3.65m) finished fifth and sixth for the day
- Isaac Odugbesan's toss of 60'2.50" (18.35m) landed him second place, while fellow teammates Josiah Harry (6th, 50'6.75"/15.41m) and Nathan Cooper (7th, 50'0.75/15.26m) rounded out the group
Track Events
- The Tide dominated the women's 60m from prelims to the finals with Tamara Clark picking up right where she left off last season, taking home first with a best time of 7.26
- Daija Lampkin (7.54) and Aysia Ward (7.63) finished third and fifth also in the 60m
- In his Crimson Tide debut, Jonathan Martin placed sixth in the men's 60m, clocking in at 6.991
- Amaris Tyynismaa led the Tide in the women's one mile with a winning time of 4:44.58, while Riley Schelp (4:59.78) finished fifth
- Jace Jones (4:17.37) opened his indoor career with a runner-up finish in the men's one-mile run
- Jake Spotswood had a busy day competing in the men's 60m hurdles (8.37) and shot put (12th, 42'1.50"/12.84m)
- Christal Mosley snagged second in the women's 400m with a time of 54.85
- For the men's 400m, Alabama swept house going 1-2-3 thanks to Jonathan Martin (1st, 48.76), Matthew Weaver (2nd, 49.10) and Gabe Serrano (3rd, 49.11)
- Margot Dooley (4th, 2:14.99) and Savannah Noethlich (5th, 2:15.65) competed in the women's 800m, while Leander Forbes (5th, 1:51.67) and Grady Shiflet (6th, 1:51.93) represented for the men
- Eliud Kipsang flew through the pack in the men's 3000m to place first with a time of 8:01.96
- To conclude the meet, Alabama women took off in the women's 4x400m relay with the A team of Clark, Sydney Milani, Mosley and Lampkin finishing 3:39.97
- The men's 4x400m relay squad of Champion Allison, Forbes, Martin and Serrano followed the women's lead and capped the meet off with a 3:09.77 victory
