Former Alabama players continue on their journey to Super Bowl LIV in Tampa
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The first week of the 2020-21 postseason in the National Football League wrapped up on Sunday. Below is a recap of this past weekend highlighting former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Six teams advanced to the divisional round of the NFL postseason following Wildcard Weekend with both the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers earning a bye as their division's respective No.1Â seed. A total of 14 former Alabama players are represented on seven of the eight remaining teams in the playoffs with 13 of those players active heading into the upcoming weekend.
For the Baltimore Ravens, defensive back Marlon Humphrey and offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman led the way in a victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Ravens are set to face off against former Tide defensive back Levi Wallace and the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the AFC. Also in the AFC, Jedrick Wills Jr. and Mack Wilson look to lead Cleveland past the Chiefs after the Browns stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers one week ago.
In the NFC Divisional Playoffs, punter JK Scott and the Green Bay Packers are paired with the Los Angeles Rams, a roster that includes former Tide standouts Terrell Lewis and A'Shawn Robinson.
Highlighting the Wildcard Weekend efforts by former Crimson Tide players was Cam Sims. The wide receiver hauled in a team-high seven catches for 104 yards. On the other side of the ball, Da'Ron Payne had a big day. Payne was credited with five total tackles, including two sacks, but the efforts of Sims and Payne were not enough as the Washington Football Team was eliminated from the playoffs. Also performing well in the trenches was Seahawks defensive lineman Jarran Reed. The Seattle defender totaled five tackles, including two sacks and three tackles for loss in a losing effort versus the Rams.
