Former Alabama players shine in the second week of the 2020 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The second week of the 2020-21 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week two by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Calvin Ridley dominated once again on Sunday. The Atlanta Falcons receiver hauled in a team-high seven catches for 108 yards and two scores. Through two weeks, Ridley leads the NFL in receiving scores with four while tying to the league-high mark in receiving yards at 239. In the same game, Amari Cooper provided a big game for the Dallas Cowboys, totaling six receptions for 100 yards. On the other side of the ball for Dallas, rookie Trevon Diggs collected six total tackles and added a pass breakup at his corner spot. The Cowboys were able to mount a late-game comeback over the Falcons, thanks in part to the standout efforts of Cooper and Diggs.
Two former Alabama running backs played a key role in their teams' success on Sunday. Former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram II helped propel the Ravens to a 2-0 start. The veteran rusher carried the ball nine times for 55 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for 22 yards. Cardinals tailback Kenyan Drake rushed 20 times for 86 yards and added two catches for nine yards to help Arizona get off to a 2-0 start, as well.
On the defensive side of the ball, Quinnen Williams had a big game for the New York Jets. Williams stuffed his stat sheet with a forced fumble, a quarterback hurry and seven total tackles, including two sacks and two tackles for loss. Landon Collins also stood out from his starting safety spot for the Washington Football Team on Sunday. Collins broke up one pass and added five total tackles, including a sack. His highlight of the day was an interception of Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray to give Washington the ball in the red zone.
Joining Collins with a big afternoon from the defensive backfield were former Tide standouts Levi Wallace and Marlon Humphrey. Wallace contributed a pass breakup and posted a team-high 10 total tackles for the Buffalo Bills. Humphrey recorded seven total tackles, including half a sack, to go with a quarterback hurry and forced a fumble in Baltimore's win.
