Crimson Tide Track & Field Travels to Albuquerque for New Mexico Collegiate Classic

Alabama will make the trip to Albuquerque Convention Center to preview the future host facility of the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track & field team will get its first look at the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships venue this weekend as it heads to the Land of Enchantment for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
The competition is held at the indoor track at the Albuquerque Convention Center and is hosted by the University of New Mexico. The meet is slated to commence on Friday, Feb. 7 and run through Saturday's program. The meet will be streamed on FloTrack, which requires a paid subscription to view.
New Mexico Collegiate Classic
- Friday's meet schedule begins with the women's weight throw at 4 p.m. CT. The last event on the track Friday evening is the women's 200m, with the gun slated to go off at 8:50 p.m. CT.
- Saturday's program opens with the men's and women's pole vault at 9:30 a.m. CT and runs through the women's 4x400m relay at 3:30 p.m. CT.
- It will be another weekend with a large number of teams competing, among some of teams are Arizona State, Kentucky, San Diego State, Texas Tech, UCLA, and UNLV.
Last Time Out
- Alabama wrapped its third meet of the season at the Indiana University Relays on Bloomington, Ind. on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
- Sophomore Bobby Colantonio Jr. broke the school record in the men's weight throw on day one with a launch of 77-02.75 (23.54m) at Gladstein Fieldhouse.
- Colantonio Jr. shattered the school record, which was previously held by Daniel Haugh (75-8/23.10m).
- His throw of 77-02.75 (23.54m) marks the second farthest performer in the NCAA this season and 21st all-time in NCAA history.
- Joining Colantonio Jr. with a first-place finish for the men was junior Isaac Odugbesan in the shot put with a throw of 19.26m.
- For the women, junior Tamara Clark (7.30) captured a win in the 60m and senior Takyera Roberson (53.83) finished first among all collegians in the 400m.
- Other notable wins include sophomore Mercy Chelangot in the 3000m (9:22.64) and the 4x400m relay of Clark, seniors D'Jai Baker, Takyera Roberson and Natassha McDonald with a time of 3:38.15.
