Alabama Takes to the Road to Play Georgia on Sunday

The Crimson Tide and Lady Bulldogs will tipoff at 12 p.m. CT inside Stegeman Coliseum in Athens
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Athens, Ga., to take on Georgia at 12 p.m. CT in Stegeman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide (14-10, 4-7 SEC) and Lady Bulldogs (13-11, 4-7 SEC) will play each other for the first time this season.
Both teams are coming off of Thursday night byes, while the two sides picked up wins last Sunday. Georgia earned a 49-43 road win over Florida in Gainesville and the Tide defeated rival Auburn for the second time this season, 68-64, in Coleman Coliseum.
The matchup on Sunday is the 53rd meeting between the two schools with Georgia leading the all-time series, 40-12. The teams split the season series a year ago with each side winning on the opposing team's home floor. Alabama's win in Stegeman Coliseum on Jan. 27, 2019 was the first in Athens since 1997. Three of the last four meetings between the Tide and Lady Bulldogs have gone to overtime.

- This is a crucial game for both teams as the two sides are bunched up with a 4-7 conference record along with the Florida Gators who the Tide will play on Thursday, Feb. 20.
- The Crimson Tide has played its best basketball on Sundays by compiling a 9-1 record on the year. All four of Alabama's conference wins have come on Sunday.
- Junior Jasmine Walker is one of the best three-point shooters in the conference, as she fifth in the SEC in three-point makes (48), makes per game (2.0) and percentage (38.4). In conference play, Walker is averaging 2.4 three-point makes in six attempts per contest for a 39.4 clip. Walker leads the team in shots attempted (255), shots made (101), three-point makes (48) and three-point attempts (125). The Montgomery native also is tops on the team in rebounds per game with 6.9.
- As a team, Alabama is one of the best three-point shooting teams in the SEC, coming in at fourth in the conference in attempts (492), makes (166), makes per game (6.9) and is fifth in percentage (33.7).
- Crimson Tide sophomore Megan Abrams has converted 20 of her last 21 free throw attempts, dating back to the South Carolina game on Jan. 5. Alabama is one of the best in the country at getting to the free throw line. The Crimson Tide is No. 44 in the nation in free throw attempts (472) and No. 33 in makes (334). UA is knocking down its attempts at a 70.8 percent clip which is good enough for fourth in the SEC.
- Redshirt junior Jordan Lewis became the program's 29th 1,000-point scorer on Jan. 20 at Tennessee. She currently has 1,063 career points. Lewis took over the No. 7 spot in career assists at against Kentucky on Feb. 6. For the season, Lewis leads the team in points (12.6), assists (3.6) and is second in steals (1.2).
- The Alabama bench has outscored its opponents, 736-395 (30.6 avg. - 16.5 avg), in 24 games this season. The Tide reserves leads the SEC in total bench points and bench points per game. The bench has outscored opponents in 23 of 24 games so far this year. The reserves have accounted for 42.5 percent of the Tide's scoring, with senior Cierra Johnson (8.0) leading the bench.
About Georgia
- The Lady Bulldogs had lost their previous four games before its road win against Florida on Sunday. UGA has a 1-4 home record against SEC opponents this year.
- Georgia is led by guard Gabby Connally who is putting up 12.2 points and 3.7 assists per game. Maya Caldwell is the only other UGA player averaging double figures with 10.2 points per contest. The Lady Bulldogs are one of the best at the free throw line, with their top four scorers averaging 80 percent or better from the stripe.
- Head Coach and former Alabama player Joni Taylor is in her fifth season in Athens while compiling a 93-55 record. Taylor has led the Lady Bulldogs to two NCAA Tournament appearances.
