Alabama Track and Field Win Five Titles at Final Day of Indiana Relays

Crimson Tide women pick up a quartet of event victories on Saturday
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Alabama track & field closed out the Indiana University Relays winning four event titles at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Field Event Highlights
- In men's shot put, junior Isaac Odugbesan launched the orb of 19.26m, picking up a victory and posting the top mark among collegians. Sophomore Chago Basso took home third with a best launch of 18.90m.
- Other notable field finishes included junior Nickolette Dunbar (16.36m) taking third and fellow junior thrower Cherisse Murray (16.09m) finishing fourth in women's shot put.
- Junior Jake Spotswood cleared a height of 2.02m in the men's high jump to place fifth and fellow junior Taylor Pickett notched 3.65m in women's pole vault to finish sixth overall.

Track Event Highlights
- The Crimson Tide women's sprinters picked up right where they left off after Friday night's 60-meter dash preliminaries. Junior Tamara Clark, who placed first last night, won the women's 60-meter dash today with a time of 7.30, while fellow junior Daija Lampkin (7.44) nabbed third.
- Alabama also claimed an event title from senior Takyera Roberson (53.83) in the women's 400m. Roberson posted the top time from all collegians, as teammate senior D'Jai Baker (54.70) and graduate student Katie Funcheon (56.03) finished 3-4.
- In the women's 3000m, sophomore Mercy Chelangat clocked in at 9:22.64, posting the best collegiate time of the day, while senior Esther Gitahi (9:32.41) placed fifth.
- Senior Stephan Holcombe (48.63) placed fifth and junior Joshua St. Clair (48.72) followed right behind with a sixth-place finish in the men's 400m.
- Rounding out the five wins was the women's 4x400-meter relay squad, as the A team of Clark, Baker, Roberson and senior Natassha McDonald won in 3:38.15.
- The Alabama B team took third (3:44.24) with Funcheon, Lampkin, senior Kristoni Barnes and sophomore Sydney Milani.
- On the men's side, the Alabama A team ran 3:13.33 in the men's 4x400-meter relay with Holcombe, St. Clair and freshmen Kyle Goodman and Matthew Weaver.

Alabama will head west to get a preview of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships site during the New Mexico Classic. The meet will be two days, starting on Feb. 7 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M.
