
SEC Season Set to Tip Thursday at Missouri for Women’s Basketball

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball (7-0) will begin the Southeastern Conference portion of its schedule on Thursday when it takes on the Missouri Tigers (4-1) in Mizzou Arena. The game is slated to tip at 2 p.m. CT.

Thursday's game will be streamed live via SEC Network + and can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network (WTBC-AM 1230 in Tuscaloosa) with Roger Hoover on the call.
OPENING TIP
- The Crimson Tide finished its non-conference schedule at 7-0. Albeit an abridged pre-SEC slate, this is the first season Alabama has entered conference play undefeated.
- UA is looking for its first 8-0 start since 2000-01 when it won nine consecutive games to begin the season.
- Thursday's meeting between the Crimson Tide and Tigers will mark the 13th in the series that began in 1981.
- Following that initial meeting, the two teams did not face each other again until 2002. Alabama won two of the first three matchups as SEC competitors, however Missouri would go on to win four of the next five to take a lead in the series.
- In last year's lone installment, the Tide won 73-61 in Tuscaloosa to close out the regular season.
- Alabama's last win in Columbia came on Jan. 8, 2017 on a last-second three by NeNe Bolton to give the Tide a 59-58 victory.

ABOUT MISSOURI
- Missouri stands at 4-1 heading into conference play with wins over North Alabama (96-78), New Orleans (84-45), Oral Roberts (88-49) and Southern Illinois (79-43). The Tigers' lone loss came against Missouri State (72-58).
- All of Missouri's games have been played in Columbia.
- The Tigers have been dominant coming out after halftime, outscoring opponents 119-58 in the third quarter.
- Missouri is led in scoring and rebounding by Aijha Blackwell, who averages 14.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Blackwell was selected to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team.
- The Tigers are coached by Robin Pingeton, who is in her 11th season in Columbia and 26th overall as a head coach. She has guided the Tigers to four NCAA Tournament berths and seven overall postseason appearances. She is one of 37 active NCAA Division I head coaches with 500+ career wins, and just 1 of 16 at the helm of Power Five program to reach the milestone.
