Former Alabama players shine in the 15th week of the 2020 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 15th week of the 2020-21 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week 15 by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
The week closed out with four former Tide players being named to this year's Pro Bowl rosters. Running back Derrick Henry earned a spot in the Pro Bowl for a second consecutive season while fellow running back Josh Jacobs will make his first career appearance in the game. On the defensive side of the ball, corner Marlon Humphrey and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick also earned Pro Bowl bids. Both Humphrey and Fitzpatrick join Henry in getting a spot in the league's all-star game for a second straight year.
A big reason why Henry was named to the Pro Bowl is his consistent play and that trend continued this past week. Henry carried the ball 24 times for 147 yards and one touchdown in the Tennessee Titans' win over the Detroit Lions. Henry continues to lead the NFL in rushing yards on the season with 1,679 yards. Jacobs, the bell cow back for the Las Vegas Raiders, continued his success with a solid outing on Thursday Night Football. Jacobs totaled 76 yards and one score on the ground while adding three receptions for 38 yards.
Through the air, Calvin Ridley hauled in 10 of his 14 targets for 163 yards and one touchdown for the Atlanta Falcons. His former Alabama teammate Jalen Hurts was impressive in his second start for the Philadelphia Eagles. Against the Arizona Cardinals, Hurts completed 24 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, the rookie rolled up 63 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries. In his first two career starts, Hurts has thrown for four touchdowns while rushing for one and has yet to turn the ball over.
