Former Alabama players shine in the 12th week of the 2020 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 12th week of the 2020-21 season in the National Football League saw all but one game wrap up through Monday night. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week 12 by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Former Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry impressed on Sunday for the Tennessee Titans. In a divisional matchup against the Indianapolis Colts Henry carried the load, totaling 178 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. With a win over the Colts, the Titans jumped to first place in the division. Henry's effort helped him add to his already league-leading rushing yardage total. Kenyan Drake also excelled on Sunday in the Cardinals-Patriots game. The Arizona tailback rushed 25 times for 93 yards and reached the end zone twice.
The Crimson Tide's former wide receivers continued their string of impressive performances. Calvin Ridley helped the Falcons offense post 43 points in a 43-6 rout of the Las Vegas Raiders. Ridley hauled in six balls for 50 yards and a touchdown in Atlanta's win. On Thanksgiving Day, Dallas Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper caught six passes for 112 yards and added one score to his stat sheet.
On the defensive side of the ball, New York Jets tackle Quinnen Williams made his presence known. The second-year defensive end recorded seven tackles, including 1.5 sacks, and forced a fumble on Sunday. Also performing well in the trenches was the Washington Football Team's duo of Da'Ron Payne and Jonathan Allen. Payne recorded three tackles, including half a sack, and added a force fumble. Allen scooped up that fumble while also collecting four tackles on the day. With their efforts, Washington was able to come away with a big Thanksgiving Day victory over Dallas.
Rounding out the defensive group was Dre Kirkpatrick. The Arizona Cardinals defensive back recorded three tackles, broke up one pass and picked off another. The interception marked Kirkpatrick's third on the year.
