
Homestand Continues Wednesday for Women’s Basketball

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Crimson Tide women's basketball team will play its third game in seven days on Wednesday when it hosts USC Upstate in Coleman Coliseum for a 6 p.m. CT tip. Tickets are on sale for $5 and can be purchased through the Alabama Ticket Office.

Fans unable to attend Wednesday's game can watch it live on SEC Network+ or listen on the Crimson Tide Sports Network (WTUG in Tuscaloosa). Eli Gold and Rick Moody have the call on the broadcast, while Roger Hoover will broadcast on the radio.
OPENING TIP
- Alabama closes out its three-game homestand on Wednesday when it hosts USC Upstate in Coleman Coliseum.
- The Crimson Tide is 2-0 on the season after wins over Samford (83-68) and Houston (88-66).
- Alabama is 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2017 when it began the year 4-0.
- The Tide will take on the Spartans for the second time exactly six years from the day of the first meeting in the series when the two match up Wednesday.
- Alabama came away with a 74-65 victory in the last game between Alabama and USC Upstate, led by Briana Hutchen's 21-point, 10-rebound double-double.
LAST TIME OUT
- Alabama's trio of seniors in Ariyah Copeland, Jordan Lewis and Jasmine Walker combined for 65 points and 26 rebounds in the Crimson Tide's 88-66 victory.
- Walker led the team in scoring for the second-consecutive game, finishing with a career-high 25 points.
- Copeland recorded Alabama's first double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
- Lewis chipped in 20 points, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.
- In all, the Tide had eight different scorers, including Myra Gordon with her first collegiate basket.
- Alabama hit 32 of its 38 attempts from the free throw line to finish 84.2 percent for the game.
- UA's 32 made free throws against Houston were the most since it had 36 against Ole Miss on Jan. 5, 2017.
- Six different players went to the free throw line for the Tide including Copeland (10-12), Lewis (9-9), Walker (6-8), Hannah Barber (4-4), Megan Abrams (3-4), and Gordon (0-1).
ABOUT USC UPSTATE
- Alabama will be the second SEC opponent of the season in as many games for USC Upstate as the Spartans opened the season at Auburn on Nov. 25, resulting in an 82-41 loss.
- Both Dakota McCaughan and Marnicha Prudent scored in double figures for the Spartans, finishing with 15 points and 10 points, respectively. Prudent also notched 10 rebounds for a double-double in the season opener.
- As a team, Upstate went 6-6 from the free throw line.
- The Spartans are under the direction of first-year head coach Becky Burke. Burke spent the two previous season at University of Charleston (DII) in West Virginia, and prior to that, started the women's basketball program at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz.
