Crimson Tide falls to 11th overall in Monday’s second round of play
VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – Alabama ended the second round of play at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate on Monday with a 7-over par 287 and fell to 11th overall after 36 holes of play. The Crimson Tide will enter the final round with a team total of 3-over par 563 (276-287).
The three day, 54-hole event, which features all 14 Southeastern Conference teams and is being held on the par-70, 7,204-yard Old Overton Club, will conclude on Tuesday.
ROUND TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- The Tide has three players who are tied for 20th overall after 36 holes of action
- Wilson Furr (67-72), Tyler Lipscomb (68-71) and Thomas Ponder (67-72) are all at 1-under par 139 across the two rounds played
- Lipscomb's 1-over par round of 71 led the Crimson Tide on Monday
- Davis Shore (74-73/147) and Canon Claycomb (76-72/148) round out the Alabama lineup in 63rd and 68th, respectively
TEAM TOTALS
- Alabama dropped six spots into 11th overall after 36 holes played
- Vanderbilt (542) took advantage of shooting 8-under par on Monday to overtake Georgia (544) for the clubhouse lead heading into Tuesday's final round
- Auburn (545), who also shot 8-under in the second round, vaulted into third overall followed by Tennessee (551) and South Carolina (553) to round out the top five
FUN FACT
- Across Monday's opening 13 holes as a team, the Crimson Tide was a combined 11-over par. However, over the final five holes Alabama went for a combined total of 6-under par
