
Alabama Swimming and Diving Wins Six Events and Sets a School Record on Day Two in Knoxville

The Crimson Tide bettered the school standard in the women’s 800 freestyle relay by more than two seconds on day two of the Crimson Tide’s double-dual meet with Tennessee and Virginia
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama swimming and diving came away with six wins and a school record on the second day of its double-dual meet against Virginia and host school Tennessee at the Jones Aquatic Center on the UT campus Friday.
The Crimson Tide women closed out their night with a new school record in the 800 freestyle relay. Morgan Scott, Kensey McMahon, Ashley Voelkerding and Gracie Felner crushed the previous mark set at last year's SEC Championships, knocking off more than two seconds with a 7:05.69.
Rhyan White raced away from the field in the 100 backstroke, clocking a 50.45 to finish more than a second and a half ahead of her nearest competitor. It was the second fastest time of both her career and in Alabama history. White also took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.40, the third fastest time of her career and in UA history.
Jake Marcum earned his first win wearing the crimson and white of Alabama, turning in a 46.83 to out-touch teammate Matt Menke by one hundredth of a second in the 100 backstroke. Marcum's time shaved more than a second off his previous career-best and ranks him seventh all-time at UA.
Menke, Liam Bell, Colton Stogner and Matt King opened the night by posting a 1:24.65 to win the 200 medley relay, while Bell, Cam Auerbach, Kacper Piotrowski and Jonathan Berneburg closed things out by winning the 800 freestyle relay in a time of 6:25.50.
Kevin Li picked up his second win in as many days, taking top honors off the 3-meter springboard with 385.85 points, once again finishing 20 points ahead of his closest competitor.
MORE TOP-THREE FINISHES
- Tanesha Lucoe was second off the 1-meter springboard after tallying 288.00 points
- Bell was second in the 100 breaststroke after turning in a 52.05, the second fastest of his career, while Stogner took second in the 100 butterfly with a career-best 46.55, rankings him seventh all-time at UA
- Scott was second in the 200 freestyle after stopping the clock at 1:45.20, the second-fastest time of her career, and the third-fastest mark in Alabama history
- McMahon took third in the 400 individual medley with a career-best 4:13.94, shaving more than a second off her previous mark
- Nicholas Perera was third in the 400 individual medley with a 4:53.05 in finals after posting a 4:50.08 in prelims
MORE DAY-TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Christopher O'Connor swam a life-time best of 47.16 in prelims of the 100 backstroke, ranking him eighth all-time at UA
- Cat Wright (1:01.14) and Jocelyn Fisher (1:01.51) both posted career-best times in the 100 breaststroke
- Wright's 1:01.14 in the 100 breaststroke ranks her seventh at UA all-time
THE FORMAT
- The format for this weekend's meet is similar to what the Crimson Tide will see during the post season with prelims and finals each day
- Prelims will start each day at 10 a.m. ET, while finals get underway at 6 p.m. ET

- The meet concludes Saturday with the 400 freestyle relay as well as platform diving, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and the 1,650 freestyle
