Crimson Tide picked to finish fifth by SEC and national media
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama men's basketball guard John Petty Jr. has been selected as a preseason All-SEC First Team honoree as voted on by a select panel of both SEC and national media members.
The Crimson Tide was predicted to finish fifth overall while Tennessee is the preseason favorite to win the regular season title for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
Petty adds to his preseason awards with this most recent honor. Earlier in the month, the Hunstville, Ala., native was selected to the 2020 Jerry West Award Watch List for the nation's top shooting guard. He was also tabbed preseason All-SEC by Blue Ribbon Yearbook.
Petty was joined on the first team by the SEC's Preseason Player of the Year Keyontae Johnson of Florida, Kentucky's Brandon Boston Jr., LSU's Trendon Watford and Tennessee's John Fulkerson. Petty was one of seven different players who received at least one vote for Preseason Player of the Year.
