Former Alabama players shine in the seventh week of the 2020 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The seventh week of the 2020-21 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week seven by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
A couple of Tide defensive backs put up big numbers this past weekend. On Monday Night Football, Eddie Jackson led the Bears in tackles, adding nine to his stat sheet. Jackson also recovered a fumble and took it back eight yards for a Chicago touchdown. Ronnie Harrison continued his string of strong performances for the Cleveland Browns. Harrison led the team in tackles with nine, including a sack, and added a pass breakup and a fumble recovery. His efforts helped the Browns to a last-second win over the in-state rival Cincinnati Bengals.
Also excelling on defense was lineman Quinnen Williams. He recorded four tackles, a sack and three quarterback hurries for the New York Jets. Rounding out the group was Landon Collins. The defensive back posted four tackles, a quarterback hurry and forced a fumble in Washington's 25-3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Atlanta Falcons' receiving duo of Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones showed out once again. Jones hauled in a team-high eight passes for 97 yards while Ridley brought in five passes for 69 yards and added a score. Thanks to another strong performance on Sunday, Ridley remains among the top five in the league in both receiving yards and touchdowns receptions on the year. Also making an impact at wide receiver was Amari Cooper. The Cowboys' No. 1 wideout hauled in all seven of his targets for 80 yards. His effort was tops for Dallas in both receptions and receiving yards and catapulted him to second in the league for receptions on the season. Cooper also ranks in the top five for receiving yards in 2020.
Former Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry continued to string together impressive performances for the Tennessee Titans. Henry carried the ball 20 times for 75 yards and one touchdown. He currently leads the league in rushing yards and ranks in the top five in rushing touchdowns on the year.
