TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2020-21 Alabama men’s basketball season tipped off on Thursday morning with the first official team practice. The Crimson Tide went for approximately two-and-a-half hours on the practice court as it begins preparations for the home opener in late November.

Excitement for the upcoming season is high as Alabama returns four starters – including three All-SEC performers – and seven letterwinners from last season’s team.
In addition to the returnees, the Crimson Tide welcomes a total of six newcomers who made up the nation's ninth-ranked signing class, according to Rivals.com, and the No. 12 overall class by 247sports.com. The team recruiting rankings did not include graduate transfer Jordan Bruner, who earned First Team All-Ivy League honors last season at Yale.
Head coach Nate Oats will also welcome back three highly-rated players (Juwan Gary, Jahvon Quinerly and James Rojas) who were forced to redshirt last season, giving Alabama added depth in both the frontcourt and backcourt.
Oats enters his second season at the helm of the Crimson Tide program and his fifth season overall as a head coach. In his first season at the helm, Alabama’s new-look offense ranked among the top in the nation in pace of play, points per game and threes made per game, while setting program records for three made (334) and attempted (334-of-957).
While Alabama’s 2020-21 schedule has not yet been officially released, the college basketball season can begin no sooner than Wednesday, Nov. 25.
